Role Overview
Heroix is supporting a rapidly growing technology-focused Company in the search for a commercially astute Head of Business Development. This senior leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced sales and commercial professional with a strong background in technology-led solutions, strategic partnerships, and revenue growth. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Company’s commercial development activities, oversee a small business development team, and drive expansion across both local and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement a structured growth strategy that supports the Company’s expansion across technology, AI, automation, digital transformation, and innovative solution-driven markets.
- Revenue Generation: Drive new business acquisition through proactive prospecting, relationship building, solution presentations, negotiations, and successful deal closures.
- Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline by identifying, qualifying, and progressing opportunities through all stages of the commercial cycle.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and support the Business Development Executive and Sales Coordinator, ensuring clear objectives, accountability, and continuous performance improvement.
- Client Engagement: Establish and strengthen relationships with enterprise clients, public sector stakeholders, commercial partners, and key decision-makers across target industries.
- Sales Operations: Ensure all commercial activities, leads, and opportunities are accurately tracked within the CRM system, while maintaining clear reporting, forecasting, and pipeline visibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technical and operational teams to ensure proposed solutions are commercially viable, accurately scoped, and aligned with client requirements.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate valuable partnerships that support market growth, product adoption, and long-term commercial success.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor industry developments, competitor activity, client trends, and emerging technologies to support business growth and commercial positioning.
- Commercial Reporting: Provide regular updates to leadership regarding pipeline performance, conversion activity, revenue forecasts, strategic risks, and commercial opportunities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: A qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, Technology, Management, or a related field would be considered an asset.
- Experience: Proven experience within business development, commercial leadership, or strategic sales roles, particularly within technology, AI, SaaS, automation, consulting, or digital transformation environments.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities, with confidence communicating complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent relationship-building capabilities with the ability to influence senior decision-makers and foster long-term business partnerships.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of technology-led products and services, including digital transformation solutions, automation tools, AI-related offerings, or enterprise platforms.
- Organisation: Highly organised individual capable of managing multiple commercial opportunities, deadlines, priorities, and reporting requirements simultaneously.
- Self-Motivated: Results-oriented and commercially driven professional with the ability to take initiative and operate effectively within a fast-paced business environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and consultative approach with the ability to identify client challenges and develop commercially effective solutions.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and developing commercial or business development teams while driving accountability and performance.
