Role Overview
The Accounts & Credit Control Officer will form part of a busy finance and administration function based at the Head Office in Mriehel. The successful candidate will support day-to-day accounting processes, maintain accurate financial records, assist with credit control activities, and contribute to the smooth running of month-end procedures while working closely with the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Administration: Maintain accurate accounting records through daily posting activities, invoice handling, and general data maintenance within the finance system.
- Cash & Banking Support: Carry out daily cash verification processes, prepare collection summaries, and assist with bank reconciliations and statement requests.
- Credit Control & Client Liaison: Follow up on overdue balances, issue statements to clients, and manage communication to support timely payment collection while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Project & Documentation Management: Assist in maintaining updated records for internal systems and support ongoing finance-related projects, ensuring all documentation is properly recorded and organised.
- Month-End & Reporting Assistance: Support closing procedures at month and year end, contribute to financial reporting preparation, and assist management with ad hoc finance tasks as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: A background in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous exposure to an office-based environment, ideally within an accounts or finance function.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. Fluency in Maltese is essential.
- Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly when dealing with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across teams and with external contacts.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Familiarity with accounting systems such as Shireburn will be considered an advantage.
- Organisation: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Motivated: A proactive attitude with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility in daily tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying issues and contributing practical solutions in a structured and timely manner.
