Role Overview
The Sustainability Policy Advisor will support the development, review, and implementation of climate and energy-related strategies and plans. This role involves conducting policy research and analysis, contributing to key national strategies, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of policy objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Assist in preparing and updating policy documents and strategies, including the Long-Term Strategy, Adaptation Strategy, National Energy and Climate Plan, and analyses of post-2030 climate and energy targets.
- Reporting and Briefings: Support the compilation of policy briefs, reports, and recommendations for management and external stakeholders.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis in assigned thematic areas to inform policy development and decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate and liaise with public, private, and external stakeholders to facilitate data collection, coordination, and policy implementation.
- Team Coordination: Contribute to coordination and communication within the team, reporting progress as required to the Line Superior, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Recognised Bachelor’s degree at MQF Level 6 in Mathematics, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field, with at least one year of relevant work experience. Recognition of foreign qualifications is required if applicable.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience in policy development or analysis.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required; ability to communicate in Maltese is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong negotiation and communication abilities to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with colleagues and maintain professional relationships across diverse teams.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and relevant statistics or analytical tools.
- Organisation: Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of analysing complex issues and providing practical solutions.
