Role Overview
The Group Chief Financial Officer will oversee the finance function for our Client's local operations and related entities. This role involves leading financial strategy, reporting, and planning, while supporting business growth and operational efficiency. The position also requires active collaboration with senior management to ensure strong financial governance and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance Leadership: Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance function, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Budgeting & Planning: Direct the preparation of budgets, business plans, and feasibility studies, supporting management with financial analysis and insights.
- Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee the Company’s treasury function, maintaining strong relationships with banking partners and ensuring adequate financing for business operations.
- Controls & Compliance: Ensure robust internal controls over expenditure, revenue, and cash, adhering to financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
- Strategy & Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO and executive team to enhance decision-making, promote synergies across business units, and support strategic initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain trusted relationships with shareholders, management colleagues, and key business partners, communicating effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and leverage technology to automate financial operations and enable data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Experience: Significant experience in finance leadership, ideally within the logistics or transport sector, with a strong understanding of shipping processes and financial management.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Proficiency in Maltese is a strong asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to convey complex financial information clearly to management and stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Able to build trust, influence decisions, and foster strong professional relationships.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Organisation: Highly organised with excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, leadership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
