Role Overview
Our Client is seeking a dedicated Lawyer (Associate) - Employment Law to join its legal team. The selected candidate will provide specialised guidance on employment law matters, handle a variety of client cases, and support the wider team in delivering high-quality legal services across multidisciplinary assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Advisory: Provide clear and practical legal advice on employment-related matters, including regulatory compliance, workplace issues, and contractual obligations.
- Legal Drafting: Research, prepare, and draft legal opinions, judicial documents, contracts, internal policies, and procedural frameworks.
- Compliance Oversight: Assist clients with job evaluation processes, equal pay considerations, and general compliance related to employment legislation.
- Litigation Support: Attend and support proceedings before courts and tribunals while advising on dispute resolution strategies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with partners and colleagues across various practice areas to support multidisciplinary engagements and the broader legal team.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: A Doctor of Laws degree is required. A master’s degree or strong understanding of employment law, discrimination, health and safety, and/or data protection law will be considered an asset.
- Experience: Minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience within a law firm or as in-house counsel, with hands-on exposure to employment and industrial relations matters.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required to succeed in this role.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey legal concepts clearly and confidently.
- Interpersonal Skills: Capable of building strong client relationships, working within a team, and engaging effectively with colleagues across practice areas.
- Technical Skills: Strong analytical ability and sound legal drafting capabilities, with familiarity in employment legislation and related regulatory areas.
- Organisation: Able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, adaptable, and committed to developing expertise and contributing to the growth of the practice.
- Problem-Solving: Able to assess issues objectively and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice.
