Accountant - Food Retail
Salary Package: €36,000 to €42,000
About Our Client
Our Client is one of Malta’s leading food retail operators, with a network of more than 100 stores across Malta and Gozo. With a strong focus on accessibility, everyday consumer needs, operational efficiency, and continued growth, Our Client continues to invest in modern retail solutions and in the development of its people.
Role Overview
The Accountant will form part of the Group finance function, with a strong focus on cash management, payment controls, bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships. This is an accounting role with a treasury flavour, rather than a traditional treasury or investment-focused position. The role may suit a newly qualified accountant, an ACCA finalist, or a partially qualified accountant with strong practical financial accounting experience.
The Client is also open to considering candidates who are midway through their ACCA studies, provided they have solid hands-on experience in financial accounting, reconciliations, payment processes, and general finance operations. The successful candidate will support the business by maintaining strong visibility over cash balances, ensuring payment processes are well controlled, preparing cash flow information, and liaising with internal finance teams, management, banks, and other external financial partners.
Key Responsibilities

Reporting: Prepare cash-related reports, reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and related information for review by management.
-
Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, finance teams, management, banks, and external financial partners.
-
Compliance and Controls: Ensure cash, banking, and payment activities are carried out in line with internal policies, procedures, approval limits, and regulatory requirements.
-
Process Improvement: Support the continuous improvement of finance processes, payment controls, reporting tools, and systems.
