Role Overview

The Financial Analysis Officer will contribute to the effective running of the Company’s finance function by supporting transactional accounting, financial controls, business planning and management reporting. The position involves working with financial data across several operational areas, including billing, ledger entries, supplier balances, stock, capital assets and regulatory submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Cash and Bank Controls: Verify banking activity against internal accounting records, investigate discrepancies and ensure that balances are accurately reflected.
• Financial Planning: Contribute to the development of yearly financial plans and regularly updated projections by gathering data and supporting financial modelling.
• Management Information: Examine periodic accounts and prepare financial insights that assist management in assessing performance and making informed decisions.
• Cash Flow Monitoring: Produce monthly liquidity assessments to help the Business understand its cash position and anticipated funding requirements.
• Statutory Accounts: Support the year-end accounting process by compiling schedules, documentation and financial information required for formal reporting.
• Claims and Operational Reports: Complete quarterly DME documentation and produce value chain information within the required reporting timeframes.
• Stock and Pricing Records: Administer product-related master information, revise pricing records for merchandising materials and ensure that relevant data remains current.
• Inventory Verification: Help organise and oversee physical inventory counts, coordinating with the appropriate departments to support accurate stock reporting.
• Tax Compliance: Compile the information required for periodic VAT filings and support their timely submission in accordance with applicable obligations.
• Accounting Operations: Assist with customer billing, supplier transactions, accounting entries, balance checks and the administration of the Company’s asset register.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education and Professional Qualifications: A recognised degree in accounting or finance is required. Candidates who are currently pursuing ACCA, or who hold an equivalent professional qualification, will be considered.
• Experience: At least four years of relevant professional experience within a comparable finance or accounting position is essential.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: The ability to explain financial information clearly and deliver well-structured presentations to different stakeholders is important.
• Interpersonal Skills: A cooperative approach and the confidence to work effectively with colleagues across finance and operational departments are required.
• Technical Skills: Strong capability in accounting systems and business software is essential, together with confidence in handling numerical and financial information.
• Organisation: The successful candidate must be able to prioritise recurring accounting activities, meet reporting deadlines and maintain orderly supporting records.
• Self-Motivated: A proactive attitude, dependability and a willingness to take ownership of assigned financial tasks are expected.
• Analytical Thinking: The role requires the ability to interpret figures, identify unusual movements and draw practical conclusions from financial data.
• Problem-Solving: Candidates should be capable of examining inconsistencies, establishing their underlying cause and recommending suitable corrective action.
