

Junior Analyst (Investment)
About the Function
The Insurance and Pensions Supervision function is responsible for the prudential supervision of insurance companies, insurance intermediaries, retirement schemes, retirement funds and retirement service providers. The team employs professionals with a varied background and varied skills in the areas of insurance, pensions, accounting, legal, quantitative analysis, actuarial, compliance and other related areas.
About the Role
We are seeking to recruit a Junior Investment Analyst whose primary role will be to supervise pension-related activities and support the current team in achieving effective oversight, sound decision making, and regulatory objectives relating to pensions. The selected individual will also be involved in insurance-related activities focusing primarily on supervisory work related to the analysis and monitoring of the Prudent Person Principle under Solvency II.
Within this role you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary passionate team. Key responsibilities include:
Supervise and review pension-related and insurance-related matters, ensuring alignment with applicable frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Provide technical input and recommendations to senior management and internal stakeholders.
- Provide support to the Authorisations team in processing and analysing new applications.
- Contribute expertise across a range of areas, including:
- Investment-related aspects of pension schemes.
- Local pension products.
- Auto-enrolment frameworks and practices.
- Prudent Person Principle under Solvency II.
- Engage and collaborate closely with supervisors across the team, including colleagues from Finance, Authorisations, and Compliance.
- Provide input to multidisciplinary assessments and reviews involving pensions and insurance.
- Keep abreast of developments, trends, and emerging risks in pensions, insurance, and related financial services.
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, and technical analyses as required.
About You
The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications, but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
