Role Overview
Heroix is supporting our Client in the search for a Data Governance Compliance Manager to join its Data Office function. This role focuses on strengthening adherence to data governance standards, overseeing compliance monitoring activities, supporting data-related risk initiatives, and contributing to the continuous enhancement of governance practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Oversight: Develop and maintain effective procedures, controls, and monitoring activities to ensure ongoing adherence to the organisation’s data governance framework.
- Governance Monitoring: Track compliance performance across the Organisation, oversee the resolution of governance-related issues, and ensure corrective actions are completed within agreed timelines.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of governance activities and prepare accurate reports to support internal reviews, management reporting, and audit requirements.
- Risk and Framework Support: Contribute to the enhancement of data governance policies, standards, and related frameworks while supporting initiatives linked to data risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, committees, and governance forums to support governance-related projects, assess changes impacting data management practices, and promote awareness of governance requirements across the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: An MQF Level 6 qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 7 years of professional experience within data management, information management, governance, compliance, or a similar environment, depending on academic qualifications.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be considered an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex governance and compliance concepts clearly and effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different business functions and levels of seniority.
- Technical Skills: Sound understanding of data governance principles, compliance monitoring methodologies, reporting tools, metadata management practices, and governance frameworks.
- Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines within a structured environment.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, dependable, and capable of working independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and accountability.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify governance gaps, investigate issues, recommend improvements, and support effective remediation activities.
- Desirable Qualifications: Professional certifications related to data governance, data management, privacy, or compliance, such as CDMP, DGSP, CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent credentials, together with previous experience within banking or financial services.
