Role Overview
The Performance Analyst will support data-led decision-making across the organisation by analysing sales performance, profitability, pricing, margins, and operational efficiency. This role will play an important part in helping senior leadership gain clearer visibility over business performance and identify opportunities for commercial improvement. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, commercially aware, and confident working with large volumes of data. This position requires strong reporting skills, the ability to translate complex information into practical insights, and close collaboration with Finance, Commercial, Operations, and senior management teams.
- Performance Reporting: Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards covering sales performance, gross margin, store-level results, and other key business indicators.
- Profitability Analysis: Analyse performance across SKUs, product categories, stores, and business areas to identify trends, drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
- Pricing and Promotions Support: Support pricing, promotional activity, and commercial initiatives through data analysis, modelling, and post-campaign performance reviews.
- Margin Improvement: Identify areas of cost leakage, operational inefficiency, and margin pressure while recommending opportunities to improve profitability.
- Commercial Analysis: Provide regular performance updates and ad-hoc analysis to support commercial decision-making across the business.
- Leadership Support: Deliver clear and practical insights to senior leadership, including the CFO and Head of Commercial Finance, to support strategic and financial decisions.
- KPI Monitoring: Track key performance indicators, highlight trends, identify risks, and flag opportunities for growth or operational improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Commercial, Operations, and other internal teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting Support: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes by providing reliable data analysis and performance insights.
- Reporting Tools and Models: Develop and improve reporting tools, analytical models, and business intelligence outputs to strengthen visibility across the organisation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in business performance analysis, FP&A, commercial finance, data analytics, or a similar analytical role.
- Excel and BI Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel, with experience using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex datasets, identify patterns, and convert data into meaningful business insights.
- Commercial Awareness: Good understanding of business performance drivers, profitability, pricing, margins, and operational efficiency.
- Retail Understanding: Knowledge of retail, FMCG, or multi-site business performance metrics would be considered an asset.
- Reporting Experience: Experience working with large datasets, financial reports, operational reports, and performance tracking systems.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when preparing reports, reviewing data, and presenting performance information.
- Communication Skills: Able to explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Data Visualisation: Strong ability to present information through clear dashboards, reports, and visual tools.
- Problem-Solving: Able to investigate business performance challenges and suggest practical, data-supported solutions.
- Organisation: Capable of managing multiple reporting deadlines, analysis requests, and business priorities.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, curious, and able to work independently while supporting wider business objectives.
