Role Overview
The Senior Analyst will contribute to the Model Validation Unit within the Risk Coordination & Quality function, taking ownership of complex validation tasks and supporting the achievement of the unit’s objectives. The role involves performing both routine and bespoke validation assignments, analysing model performance, and ensuring that outcomes are accurately documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Validation Tasks: Undertake model validation exercises independently, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods, and providing constructive feedback to identify potential validation issues.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather relevant data and ensure that model validation findings are effectively communicated and understood.
- Reporting and Presentations: Prepare, review, and present validation findings to management and committee members, delivering clear reports and supporting the work of colleagues as needed.
- Regulatory Awareness: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable local and European risk-based regulations, ensuring all validation activities comply with regulatory standards.
- Documentation and Support: Keep records current, support junior team members, and assist other business units in understanding validation outcomes and performing related tasks.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: MQF Level 5 award in a risk-related area, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Banking and Finance, Accounts, or Economics; OR MQF Level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in the same areas; a Master’s Degree (MQF Level 7) or relevant certification is advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in a risk management or regulatory environment, ideally including exposure to model validation or financial services.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English; knowledge of Maltese is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences and respond effectively to queries.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative approach, able to work across teams and build strong professional relationships.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in programming languages such as R, SAS, or Python.
- Organisation: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, commitment, and confidence to work independently when required.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying challenges and proposing practical, data-driven solutions.
