Role Overview
Heroix is proud to be collaborating with a leading professional services firm within the audit and advisory sector to recruit an Audit Manager. This position offers the opportunity to oversee a diverse portfolio of audit clients while taking a hands-on leadership role in complex engagements. The successful candidate will contribute both technically and strategically, ensuring high standards of delivery, regulatory compliance and strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement Leadership: Oversee statutory and non-statutory audit assignments from initial planning through to finalisation, ensuring deadlines, quality standards and client expectations are consistently met.
- Technical Oversight: Lead complex audit work personally, including the preparation and critical review of financial statements, ensuring alignment with applicable accounting frameworks and auditing standards.
- Audit Planning & Risk Assessment: Develop comprehensive audit strategies, perform detailed risk evaluations and design tailored audit programmes suited to each engagement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to IFRS, GAPSME, ISAs and all relevant regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Client & Team Management: Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, manage engagement budgets and timelines, allocate resources effectively, and provide mentorship and structured guidance to junior team members while liaising with other service lines for integrated service delivery.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA or equivalent professional qualification).
- Professional Certification: In possession of, or actively pursuing, a CPA warrant and Practising Certificate in Auditing (Malta).
- Experience: A minimum of four years’ experience within audit, with exposure to complex engagements and regulated environments.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Confident in presenting technical matters clearly to clients and stakeholders, with the ability to build credibility and trust.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, fosters collaboration and maintains productive working relationships at all levels.
- Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of ISAs, IFRS and GAPSME, with the ability to interpret and apply accounting and auditing standards effectively.
- Organisation: Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritising workload efficiently and meeting strict reporting deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and commercially aware, with the drive to take ownership of engagements and contribute to the growth of the audit function.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with the ability to identify audit risks, assess complex accounting matters and implement practical, compliant solutions.
