Our Client, part of a major group of companies in Malta, is a retail franchise focused on unique curated products. This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative retail brand, contribute to shaping retail operations, and in also playing a key role in scaling the business through future outlet openings.

Role Overview

​​​​​​The Retail Manager will be responsible for leading the successful setup and launch of the first retail outlet, establishing strong operational foundations, training and developing the store team, managing day-to-day retail operations, and supporting the rollout of additional shops as the brand expands. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring proven retail management experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to thrive in a startup-style environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Store Launch & Setup: Lead the full preparation and opening of the first retail outlet, ensuring the store is fully operational, visually engaging, and aligned with brand standards from day one.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor store staff, fostering a high-performance culture focused on customer experience and operational excellence.
  • Daily Operations Management: Oversee all day-to-day store activities, including staff scheduling, stock control, visual merchandising, and service quality.
  • Processes & Systems: Design and implement retail procedures, workflows, KPIs, and policies that support efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the business.
  • Sales Performance: Drive revenue growth through proactive sales strategies, promotional activity, and continuous optimisation of store performance.
  • Reporting & Insights: Track sales figures and operational metrics, producing clear reports and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and regulatory requirements, maintaining high operational and brand standards at all times.
  • Expansion Support: Assist with planning and execution for future store openings, ensuring a consistent customer and operational experience across all outlets.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Proven background in senior retail management roles within reputable or well-established organisations. Experience supporting store openings is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of both English and Maltese is required to succeed in this role.
  • Communication Skills: Confident communicator able to liaise effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and senior management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong people management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams in a customer-focused environment.
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of retail operations, sales analysis, inventory management, and performance reporting.
  • Organisation: Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, and meet operational deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: Proactive and hands-on, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Problem-Solving: Commercially minded with the ability to identify issues, analyse data, and implement practical solutions.
