Role Overview

The Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in maintaining and optimising the IT infrastructure of the organisation. This position involves ensuring high availability of systems, supporting end-user devices, cloud solutions, and virtual environments, as well as contributing to business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives. The role is ideal for an IT professional with a strong technical background and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

Key Responsibilities

• IT Infrastructure Management: Assist in managing the Company’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software systems, virtualised environments, backup solutions, end-user devices, and cloud platforms.
• System Availability: Support the maintenance of monitoring systems to ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Installation and Maintenance: Perform installations, upgrades, configurations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and resource optimisation across IT infrastructure components.
• Support and Troubleshooting: Recognise and resolve operational issues, providing 2nd-level support and assisting with 1st-level incident management.
• Vendor Liaison and Escalation: Coordinate and escalate technical issues with third-party service providers as required.
• Business Continuity: Contribute to the planning and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for IT systems.
• Compliance and Documentation: Adhere to IT operations best practices and maintain updated documentation of infrastructure processes.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT infrastructure engineering or administration, ideally within the financial services sector.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication to effectively liaise with colleagues and third-party vendors.
• Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure Cloud, SQL Databases (Microsoft SQL Server preferred), VMware, Veeam backups, and network administration (Cisco focus). Knowledge of Linux is considered an asset.
• Organisation: Highly organised with an ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, and a proactive approach to tasks.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.
