Role Overview
The General Manager will take overall responsibility for driving the strategic and operational direction of the business. This senior leadership role will focus on strengthening existing operations while identifying and executing growth opportunities across new product lines, wholesale channels, and retail concepts. Working closely with key stakeholders and internal teams, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of the Company’s development.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies that support sustainable growth and market expansion.
- Operational Oversight: Lead and coordinate cross-functional operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Business Development: Identify and evaluate opportunities for product diversification, market penetration, and expansion into new commercial segments.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, partners, and key business stakeholders to support commercial success.
- Team Leadership: Provide clear direction, mentorship, and support to management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: A degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field would be considered an asset.
- Experience: Proven experience within import, distribution, and/or retail environments, with a strong background in sales or commercial leadership roles.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required to succeed in this role.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the confidence to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation and with external partners.
- Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and motivate teams.
- Technical Skills: Solid financial literacy, including the ability to interpret financial statements, manage budgets, and support strategic decision-making.
- Organisation: Highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills to manage multiple business areas simultaneously.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and driven, with the ability to work independently while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to navigate complex challenges in a dynamic commercial environment.
