About Our Client
Our Client is a long-established organisation operating across a diverse range of industries, recognised for its continuous development, innovative mindset, and strong leadership direction. The Group is built on a broad portfolio of operations and maintains a consistent focus on delivering high standards of quality while upholding core values such as integrity, respect, and forward-thinking improvement.
Role Overview
The Production Technical Designer will be responsible for producing precise technical outputs required for the manufacture and installation of joinery, carpentry, furniture, metalwork, and steel fabrication projects. Acting as a key technical coordinator between internal teams, workshops, procurement, and site operations, the role translates design intent into fully detailed production-ready information. This includes ensuring accuracy, buildability, and alignment with project specifications and operational requirements throughout all phases of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Technical Drawings: Produce detailed workshop, fabrication, and installation drawings for joinery, carpentry, furniture, and steel/metal works. Translate architectural concepts and project requirements into fully developed manufacturing documentation, including plans, elevations, sections, and assembly details. Prepare 2D and 3D representations where necessary and ensure all outputs meet internal standards and project specifications. Continuously update and refine drawings in line with design changes and project progression.
- Site Verification & Measurements: Carry out site inspections when required to gather accurate dimensional data. Validate existing conditions and confirm installation constraints prior to production. Identify potential site-related challenges and coordinate findings with site teams to ensure smooth implementation.
- Production & Workshop Support: Develop cutting lists, fabrication schedules, and supporting documentation required for workshop operations. Assist production teams in interpreting technical drawings and resolving technical queries during fabrication and installation stages. Provide ongoing technical input to ensure manufacturability and installation accuracy.
- Materials & Procurement Coordination: Prepare material schedules, quantity breakdowns, and take-offs to support procurement activities. Collaborate with purchasing teams to define material specifications and assess suitable alternatives where required. Support efficient material planning aligned with project needs and timelines.
- Project Coordination & Quality Assurance: Work closely with project leadership to support planning, sequencing, and progress tracking. Participate in technical discussions and project coordination meetings. Ensure all issued drawings are properly controlled, approved, and distributed. Monitor compliance between approved designs and completed works, supporting quality assurance checks and resolving discrepancies where necessary.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain structured drawing registers, revision histories, and controlled documentation records. Ensure all project files are accurately stored and updated within company systems. Prepare technical summaries, progress updates, and documentation reports as required throughout project delivery.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: A qualification in architectural technology, drafting, engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
