Role Overview
The Junior Legal Associate will support the legal advisory team in delivering high-quality legal and regulatory advice within the fast-evolving sectors of gaming, crypto, AI, and other emerging technologies. This is an ideal opportunity for a legally qualified professional with foundational experience and a keen interest in technology-driven industries to grow within a dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Advisory Support: Assist Legal Counsels in delivering strategic advice across regulatory frameworks relevant to gaming, crypto, AI, and tech-driven sectors.
- Regulatory Research: Conduct in-depth legal research on European and international regulatory regimes, including MiCA, DORA, AML6, and gaming legislation.
- Document Preparation: Draft regulatory analyses, memoranda, and cross-border compliance documentation, including client-facing materials and internal presentations.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Track and report developments issued by ESMA, national EU regulators, and other key international bodies.
- Knowledge Development: Continuously expand your understanding of the evolving legal landscape related to emerging technologies.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: J.D. or equivalent EU legal qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year legal experience, preferably in regulatory or technology-related fields.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate legal concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and adaptable team player who thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with MiCA, DORA, AML6, and related legal frameworks; training and guidance will be provided.
- Organisation: Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Self-Motivated: Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and develop expertise in new and evolving legal areas.
- Problem-Solving: Sharp analytical thinker with the ability to interpret complex legal texts and regulatory requirements.
