Role Overview
Our Client is seeking an IT Support Officer to join its IT Infrastructure & Operations Team. Reporting directly to the Senior IT Operations Support Officer, the chosen candidate will support business users by troubleshooting IT issues, managing hardware and software inventories, and assisting in IT procurement processes. The role will also involve overseeing user onboarding and offboarding, maintaining IT documentation, and ensuring smooth operation of IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Desk & Support: Log, prioritise, and follow up on service calls for computer hardware and software issues.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system and computer problems in a timely manner.

  • User Assistance: Support team members and business users with their IT needs.

  • Ticketing System Management: Monitor the IT ticketing system and submit weekly progress reports to the team leader.

  • Hardware & Software Management: Maintain accurate records of all computer hardware and software licenses.

  • Inventory & Procurement: Ensure adequate stock levels of IT equipment and process purchase orders and invoices in a timely manner.

  • Infrastructure & Systems Maintenance: Oversee and maintain video conferencing equipment and PABX systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • User Onboarding & Offboarding: Set up necessary hardware and software for new employees and ensure proper collection of equipment upon employee termination.

  • Documentation & Training: Maintain IT documentation, emergency procedures, and assist in delivering IT induction courses.

  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance and housekeeping activities to support the IT department.

  • Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with company policies and IT Change Management procedures.

  • Research & Optimisation: Conduct research and propose IT system optimisations to enhance business operations.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality when processing, accessing, or storing sensitive information.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: Diploma/Advanced Diploma in IT/Computer Studies or an equivalent qualification.

  • Experience: Previous experience in an IT support role within a multi-site organisation is preferred.

  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Team-oriented with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of PC and laptop repair, configuration, and ITIL processes. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft products.

  • Organisation: Ability to maintain accurate IT inventory records and ensure smooth IT procurement processes.

  • Self-Motivated: Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Availability: Willingness to be on-call and travel to off-site locations as required.
