Zen Restaurants Ltd: In early 2006, Zen Restaurants Ltd kicked off a culinary adventure of managing the stunning collection of restaurants in the Portomaso Marina area, namely Sale e Pepe, Caffé Portomaso, Marina Terrace, Al Molo and the now well-established Zen Japanese Sushi Bar & Teppanyaki. Zen to Go & Zen to Go Express are also part of the family where you can find six Zen to GO outlets offering quick-service 'take-out or dining, serving fresh Sushi, Salads, Wraps, Poke bowls and more upon demand. Outlets can be found at Pama, Pavi, Skyparks, Ta' Xbiex, St. Julians & Marsaskala. Zen to Go offers an original kids' meals menu offering different options making sure that little picky eater has also something to indulge in. Zen to Go Express boasts of a grab-and-go concept where one can walk into one of the two outlets available grab a meal and indulge in wherever their day takes them. Outlets can be found at Carob Tree, Spinola Park.
Zen Japanese Sushi Bar & Teppanyaki located at Portomaso Marina, was the first and is still widely regarded to be the best Japanese restaurant in Malta. It features a wide selection of specialty and delicacies including miso soup, nigirizushi, makimono, sashimi, tempura, as well as seafood wagyu-beef and Japanese noodles, traditionally cooked on our Teppanyaki table. The contemporary style of the restaurant blends effortlessly with the chic menu, providing an all-round, Japanese-style dining experience.

Japanese Street Food Chef
As the Street Food Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Japanese Street Food kitchen.
This includes managing a team of kitchen staff, ensuring high-quality food service, maintaining stock levels, and upholding our commitment to sustainability while delivering exceptional street food to our customers.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the street food kitchen, ensuring efficient service delivery.
- Collaborate with the management team to achieve and maintain target Gross Profit (GP) margins.
- Provide leadership and guidance to kitchen staff, fostering a positive, productive and fun work environment.
- Uphold high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation, in accordance with company guidelines.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards at all times.
Educational and skill requirements
- Previous experience as a Teppanyaki Chef, preferably in a high-volume street food environment.
- Strong team skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and colleagues.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a positive demeanour in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Passion for sustainable food and beverage practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
