

Sportsbook Manager - Africa Markets
This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the sportsbook proposition for one of the most ambitious iGaming market entries in Africa. As Sportsbook Manager – Africa, you will play a pivotal role in launching Betsson Group’s first fully operated sportsbook in Africa—starting with a first country in the west Francophone region, a high-potential mobile-first market poised for digital betting growth.
You’ll be at the heart of a multi-country expansion strategy, working within a hybrid operational model that brings together local market insight, regional leadership, and the global strength of Betsson’s brand and product. Armed with a fully managed powered sportsbook, you’ll have access to top-tier trading tools, real-time reporting, and a flexible front end that’s ready to be localized for African players.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Own and drive sportsbook KPIs: turnover, hold, margin, and player activity.
- Develop localized content and event calendars tailored to African sports interests and league schedules.
- Coordinate with central trading and product teams to ensure optimal pricing and event coverage.
- Plan and execute regional sportsbook promotions in collaboration with CRM and marketing teams.
- Monitor and analyse sportsbook performance, delivering actionable insights and regular reporting.
- Ensure full compliance with local regulatory standards and licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with UX/UI and product stakeholders to enhance the front-end experience across web and mobile.
- Serve as the business owner of the Sportsbook platform, ensuring full utilization of trading, reporting, and configuration tools.
- Liaise with the sportsbook provider second-line support and trading teams to manage escalations, league requests, and settlement issues.
- Configure platform features such as betbuilder, cashout, and bonus mechanics to reflect local market needs.
- Regularly review and act on operational dashboards including open bets, winners/losers, odds boost, stake, and liability reports.
- Support compliance audits and customer dispute resolution by accessing technical logs and reporting data.
- Maintain front-end sportsbook layout to ensure localization by language, currency, event relevance, and promotional messaging.

Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Sports Management, or a related field
Required Work Experience
- 3–5 years of sportsbook operations or trading experience in the iGaming industry
- Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of African or emerging markets sports culture and player behaviour
- Proven experience working with managed sportsbook platforms
- Familiarity with CRM systems and bonus configuration tools
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate data into commercial action
Other Requirements
- Fluency in English; French is a strong advantage, particularly for Francophone markets
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, data-driven, and cross-functional environment
