
Accounts Assistant
GO Hire Ltd, operators of autoUnion Car Rental and representatives of First Car Rental in Malta, is looking for an organised, dependable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance and administration team.
This is a permanent position suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes ownership of their responsibilities and follows matters through to completion. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day accounting function and help ensure that our financial records are complete, accurate and kept up to date.
The role will work closely with the company’s Financial Controller, management and other departments.

- Prepare, issue and post sales invoices accurately and on time.
- Record and process purchase invoices, credit notes and other accounting documents.
- Ensure invoices and transactions are supported by the required documentation and approvals.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier accounts within the company’s accounting system.
- Carry out regular bank, cash, card payment and supplier reconciliations.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate any differences or missing transactions.
- Perform credit-control duties, including monitoring overdue balances and following up debtors professionally by telephone and email.
- Maintain clear records of collection efforts, payment commitments and unresolved balances.
- Allocate incoming customer payments accurately and promptly.
- Review supplier statements and follow up discrepancies, missing invoices and credit notes.
- Assist in preparing supplier payment schedules for review and approval.
- Help reconcile rental, leasing, broker and other operational transactions with the accounting records.
- Assist with month-end procedures, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Prepare basic reports and information requested by the Financial Controller or management.
- Maintain accurate digital and physical accounting records.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and colleagues to resolve financial queries.
- Assist with audits and provide the required supporting documents.
- Support the finance and administration team with other related duties when required.
- A basic understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles is required.
- Previous experience in accounts, bookkeeping, credit control or a similar position will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Experience using Xero or another accounting system will be considered an asset.
- Experience within vehicle rental, leasing, tourism or another transaction-intensive business would be beneficial but is not essential.
- The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Relevant accounting studies or qualifications will be considered an asset.
