Join the National Statistics Office (NSO) of Malta as a Summer Survey Interviewer!

The National Statistics Office (NSO) is currently looking for Summer Survey Interviewers to join its team for a fixed-term period from July to September 2026. The successful applicants will be stationed at the Malta International Airport (Departures Lounge) and will assist in collecting data for the Tourstat survey, the main source of tourism statistics in Malta. Survey interviewers will be responsible for entering collected data electronically on tablets.

This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals looking for summer work in a dynamic and structured environment. Work shall be carried out on a 12-hourly shift basis (Day-Night-Rest-Off). Day shifts run from 07:00 to 19:00, while night shifts run from 19:00 to 07:00.

Summer Survey interviewers will use electronic means to collect the data and may also be required to carry out other data inputting work.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out face-to-face interviews in-line with set methodologies;
  • Enter collected data electronically into a tablet;
  • Take counts of travelling passengers;
  • Carry out other tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Unit.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • By closing date and time of this vacancy, applicants must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.
  • Ordinary Level passes in four (4) subjects. Preference will be given to passes in languages;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and any other official European language;
  • Sound computer literacy skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferably qualified with a European Computer Driving License - ECDL qualification);
  • A Clean Police Conduct (issued within the last 6 months)
  • An aptitude for and skill in interviewing techniques and procedures;
  • An ability to follow instructions as guided by team leaders;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and;
  • An ability to interact with the public.

  • Additional Allowances – Class allowance, Shift allowance, Sunday and Public Holiday allowance paid on a 4-weekly basis
  • An extra day of vacation leave in lieu of OFF days occurring during Public Holidays (while any paid vacation leave booked occurring on a PH shall be re-imbursed in hours)

Salary

Basic Salary of €21,008 plus a Class allowance of €400 payable in 13 equal instalments. This excludes a shift allowance of €88 on a 4-weekly period, Sunday and Public Holiday allowances and a possible qualification allowance.
