About the Role

We are currently looking for a Shop Assistant to join our charity shops on a part-time basis (14 hours per week). Our Shop Assistant manages the daily operations of Inspire Foundations' charity shops, ensuring they are clean, organized, and running smoothly. This includes handling cash flow, promoting sales, and providing excellent customer service while maintaining the organization's image.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure the smooth running of the shop operations during opening hours, between Monday to Sunday.
  • Organize stock in an attractive way to promote more sales.
  • Ensure the shop is always kept organized and clean.
  • Open and close the shop as and when necessary.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of store items to provide advice and recommendations as needed.
  • Perform end of day duties such as re-organizing items, and replacing stock.
  • Process customer payments using the shop's Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Assist customers in locating desired shop items.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
  • Address and resolve customers complaints in a professional manner.
  • Receive donations and store them in the appropriate place.
  • Achieve sales target by maximizing every sale opportunity.
  • Check cash float and reconcile with Z-Reading at the end of the shift.
  • Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role.
  • Ensure full compliance to policies and procedures and to inform the necessary departments should any gaps or flaws be identified.
  • Be proactive in suggesting areas of improving areas of responsibilities.

What we’re looking for

We are currently looking for a dedicated & positive team player to join our Charity Shop as a Shop Assistant on a part-time basis.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate should be in possession of the following:

  • Previous experience in retail operation or in a similar setting will be considered as an asset.
  • Proficient in English language is required. Favour will be given to candidates with proficiency in Maltese language.
  • Excellent organization, social and communication skills.
  • Available to work on weekends.
