

Officer III (Technical) - Maintenance Technician
The Planning Authority invites applications for the post of OFFICER III (Technical) – Maintenance Technician
Terms and Conditions
- indefinite employment subject to a successful probationary period of 6 months;
- annual basic salary of €20,629.60, progressing to €22,725.60;
- a performance bonus; and
- Flexi-time, reduced summer hours, family-friendly initiatives, health insurance, and shut-downs.
Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the position are:-
- Repair, clean and maintain equipment according to the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Carry out repairs in order to maintain in good working order the water and electrical systems, air conditioning, office furniture and any other equipment.
- Paint and maintain walls, doors, wooden apertures and any other equipment as necessary.
- Carry out carpentry jobs as instructed by the Senior Support Services Officer.
- Assist the Senior Support Services Officer in cases of emergencies where the technical input becomes necessary.
- Follow daily instructions and participate in special assignments as directed by the Senior Support Services Officer or other delegated senior officer.
- Undertake other duties of a maintenance and repair nature as directed by the Senior Support Services Officer.
Eligibility, Qualifications and Experience Required
By the closing date of this advert, applicants must be:
- citizens of Malta; or
- citizens of other Member States of the European Union who are entitled to equal treatment to Maltese citizens in matters of employment by virtue of EU legislation and treaty provisions dealing with the free movement of workers; or
- citizens of any other country who are entitled to equal treatment to Maltese citizens in matters related to employment by virtue of the application to that country of EU legislation and treaty provisions dealing with the free movement of workers; or
- any other persons who are entitled to equal treatment to Maltese citizens in matters related to employment in terms of the law or the above-mentioned EU legislation and treaty provisions, on account of their family relationship with persons mentioned in paragraph (a), (b) or (c); or
- third country nationals who have been granted long-term resident status in Malta under regulation 4 of the “Status of Long-Term Residents (Third Country Nationals) Regulations, 2006” or who have been granted a residence permit under regulation 18(3) thereof, together with family members of such third country nationals who have been granted a residence permit under the “Family Reunification Regulations, 2007”; or
- in possession of a residence document issued in terms of the “Residence Status of United Kingdom Nationals and their Family Members in Malta in accordance with the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community Regulations”.
- The advice of the Citizenship Unit within Community Malta Agency and the Expatriates Unit within Identita` should be sought as necessary in the interpretation of the above provisions.
- The appointment of candidates referred to at (b), (c), (d) and (e) above would necessitate the issue of an employment licence in so far as this is required by the Immigration Act and subsidiary legislation. Jobsplus should be consulted as necessary on this issue.

- Completed a secondary level of schooling. Ability to read and write.
- Desirable: In possession of a trade or technical school certificate. Attended specialised courses in general maintenance work.
- Proven previous experience in the repair and maintenance of buildings and related equipment.
- Desirable: 2 to 3 years working in a similar environment.
AND
Applicants must have the following skills:
- Read and interpret technical instructions. Understand and follow instructions. Work with minimum supervision.
- Desirable: Good personal presentation and communication skills.
