
Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit
The Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit is the national central agency in Malta that is responsible for the collection, collation, processing, analysis and dissemination of information to combat money laundering and the funding of terrorism.
The Unit became operational on 1 October 2002, when it was established by virtue of Legal Notice 297 of 2002. This legal notice brought into force the comprehensive amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (Act XXXI of 2001). Though set up as an agency within the ministry responsible for finance, the Unit has a separate judicial personality and operates autonomously from its own offices with its own staff.
The responsibilities related to the governance of the Unit are divided among the Board of Governors and the Director, with the Board establishing the policy and the Director being tasked with the execution of that policy. The Director is also responsible for carrying out all other functions of the Unit not attributed to the Board by the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
He is assisted by permanent staff operating within six distinct sections responsible for Intelligence Analysis, Supervision and Enforcement, Legal Affairs, Corporate Services & People Performance and Culture, Policy and Quality Assurance, and Technology and Information Security.

General Duties Assistant
The FIAU is seeking to recruit a General Duties Assistant to join the People & Corporate Services Section.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Perform official driving duties as required by FIAU employees.
- Ensure proper upkeep, cleanliness, and routine checks of FIAU vehicles.
- Carry out daily deliveries, errands, and messenger functions both internally and externally.
- Handling registered mail to the post office and delivery by hand of any official documents.
- Assist with general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, scanning, binding, and coordinating the purchase of office supplies.
- Perform general hands-on maintenance tasks around the premises, including minor repairs, adjustments, painting and general upkeep of office facilities.
- Assist in the servicing of office equipment.
- Accompany suppliers, contractors, and service providers during on-site maintenance, repairs, installations, or inspections.
- Provide logistical assistance for events and training sessions, including setting up rooms, helping in catering for participants and handling audio-visual (AV) equipment.
- Provide support to cleaning services when required.
- Assist in preparing tea, coffee, or snacks for meetings and ensure meeting rooms are cleaned and reset afterward.
- Support team members in locating and retrieving items from stores as needed.
- Assist the procurement team in identifying the required administration and logistics supplies and services.
- Perform additional tasks as may be assigned by the Section Head, Director, or Deputy Director.
Educational and skill requirements
- A valid driving licence.
- Competence and knowledge to carry out maintenance work.
- Fluency in Maltese and English languages.
- A clean criminal record and a professional attitude.
- Applicants must be able to work on their own initiative, be well organised, have the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and have excellent communication manners.
- Experience in a similar role will be considered favourably.
