Role Overview
Heroix is collaborating with a respected organisation in the education sector to appoint a Finance Manager who will play a key role in reinforcing financial governance and supporting strategic and operational decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations, this position is ideal for a technically accomplished finance professional ready to take ownership within a complex, international setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Governance & Compliance: Lead end-to-end monthly close activities, ensuring financial accuracy, robust controls, and full compliance across multiple legal entities.
- Statutory Reporting & Audit Management: Manage statutory accounts, regulatory submissions, and internal and external audits, acting as the principal contact for auditors, regulators, and external advisors.
- Legal Entity & Contract Oversight: Maintain oversight of legal entity compliance, including dividend assessments, equity and liquidity adequacy, approval frameworks, powers of attorney, and adherence to shareholder agreements and internal policies.
- Business Partnering & Commercial Support: Partner closely with FP&A, HR, Payroll, and operational teams to support budgeting, forecasting, procurement workflows, and employment-related financial matters, ensuring alignment with local and cross-border requirements.
- Transformation & Continuous Improvement: Track regulatory and legislative developments across relevant jurisdictions, support change initiatives, and utilise systems and technology to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and modernise finance processes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Experience: A minimum of six years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a Big 4 audit, assurance, or advisory environment, with exposure to multinational structures and complex regulatory frameworks. Demonstrated hands-on experience in VAT, tax, and compliance matters across multiple European jurisdictions is highly desirable.
- Eligibility: Applicants must have a valid EU work permit at the time of application.
- Language Skills: Full professional fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of additional European languages would be considered an asset.
- Communication Skills: Able to communicate complex financial and regulatory topics clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders and non-finance colleagues.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and cultures.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of IFRS or equivalent standards, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting, with strong ERP system exposure considered an advantage.
- Organisation: Highly organised and detail-focused, capable of balancing competing priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, accountable, and driven to take ownership while continuously improving processes and controls.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical and pragmatic, with the ability to identify risks early and implement sound, compliant solutions.
