Breakfast Chef

19 Rooms is a lovingly renovated Boutique Hotel, housed in an 18th century palazzo in the capital city. No expense was spared on the restoration of this build, which still retains many of its authentic features, resulting in the glorious fusion of Baroque and classical elements that meet sleek, contemporary design.

The 19 Rooms team is passionate about service and about helping guests create memorable experiences once they step into our little gem. We are there to help them create a home away from home and connect them with the best locations, restaurants and experiences Malta has to offer.

The Role

We are looking to hire a Breakfast Chef to join our team on a full-time basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare, present and upkeep the daily breakfast service in line with hotel standards
  • Bake and prepare cakes, pastries, sweets, and savoury items for afternoon/evening service
  • Plan and manage food and beverage orders, liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Keep the kitchen, storage, and equipment clean, hygienic, and in good working order, following food safety guidelines
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, minimising waste and supporting the hotel’s sustainability practices
  • Carry out any other additional duties as requested by management to support smooth hotel operations

Candidates should:

  • Have a warm personality and be passionate about hospitality
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Be guest-centric and have exceptional customer service skills
  • Be organised and able to work independently
  • Be able to multi-task and remain effective when working under pressure
  • Be good at problem solving
  • Have the ability to manage supplier relationships and handle orders/inventory
  • Be ready to work on a roster basis, including weekends and public holidays
  • Be in possession of a Food Handling certificate and have knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ideally have previous experience as a breakfast chef, or similar role in a hotel or hospitality environment

Only candidates who are eligible to work in Malta, have a valid Maltese work permit/visa and already live in Malta will be considered. Applications from abroad will not be considered. An attractive salary will be given to the right applicant.
